Acanthosis

Compartment: Epidermis

Definition: Uniform thickening of the epidermis, primarily involving the spinous layer, without significant cytologic atypia.

Clinical Context: Lichen simplex chronicus, Psoriasis, Acanthosis nigricans

Key Feature: Thickened epidermis with elongated, regular rete ridges and preserved epidermal maturation.
